Brooklyn Civic
Brooklyn Community District 5 encompasses East New York, Cypress Hills, Highland Park, City Line, New Lots, Spring Creek, and Starrett City. Covering 5.6 square miles and home to more than 180,000 residents, it sits on the borough's eastern edge, with Queens to the north and east and Gateway National Recreation Area to the south.
The district includes rowhouse blocks, public housing campuses, large apartment complexes, industrial areas, suburban-style retail, and major open spaces. It is one of Brooklyn's largest districts by population and geography.
BKCB5 — Mamdani won this CB district 59.1% to 37.1% for Cuomo and 3.8% for Sliwa, and carried 89 of 96 election districts here.
