Brooklyn is home to about 2.7 million people across 18 community districts, which would make it one of the largest cities in the country on its own. It runs from the working waterfronts and brownstone blocks of the northwest down to the beaches and bungalows of the south shore.
Brooklyn is home for me. I was born in CB6, and it's the district I'm most confident in my knowledge of — which I'll admit is a low bar to clear when it's your own backyard. I was raised in CB7. So when I write about the rest of the borough and the city, I'm doing it from a Brooklyn seat.
