The Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) is the largest municipal preservation agency in the nation, protecting New York City’s architecturally, historically and culturally significant buildings and sites by designating landmarks and historic districts and regulating them after designation.
The Commission is a panel of 11 commissioners appointed by the Mayor, supported by a staff of about 80.
CB6 includes the Park Slope, Carroll Gardens and Cobble Hill historic districts. Work on landmarked buildings needs an LPC permit, and applications come to the board’s Landmarks Committee.
