Every active and pending on-premises licence in the five boroughs

Community boards get a say on these. Before the State Liquor Authority acts on a new or renewed on-premises licence, the applicant is expected to notify the community board, and the board can hold a hearing and send the SLA a recommendation. The SLA is not bound by it, but a board on record against an application matters. This is every licence the state currently lists, so you can see what is already on a block before the next application turns up. CB6’s own detailed map is at the CB6 liquor map, and every CB6 licensee is listed by trade name, with website and logo, in the CB6 business directory; the same directory now covers every Brooklyn community district.

What the classes mean, and what this list is not

The three groupings

Full Liquor: restaurants, bars, clubs, hotels and caterers licensed to serve spirits as well as wine and beer.
Wine & Beer: the same kinds of premises limited to wine and beer, with no spirits.
Brewery / Special: manufacturers with a licence to serve on site, so brewers, cideries, wineries and distilleries.

What this list is not

These are on-premises licences only, places where you drink where you buy. Liquor stores, grocery beer licences and other off-premises classes are excluded, which is why the number here is a fraction of every SLA record in the city.

A licence is not a business. One address can hold several, an additional bar licence sits alongside the main one, and a licence can outlast the business that took it out. Pending means the application is filed, not granted.

The address is the premises as filed with the state, and a few hundred records statewide carry no usable coordinates and are therefore not shown.
