*** MINUTES ***

Nica Lalli, Co-Chair, called the meeting to order at 6:35PM. The minutes of the previous meeting held on June 16, 2010 were accepted as read.

There was a quorum present and Nica asked the committee members to introduce themselves. She introduced the new Co-Chair, Elly Spicer. Nica asked the members to suggest an agenda for the year.

Peter Katz, Planning Fellow for Community Board 6, created a survey about the parks. He reported on the survey in progress. He will give more specific results in the near future. The importance of the survey was to give the committee information on what is really happening in the parks.

Agenda items include: • Carroll Park – Glen Kelly said that the signs for the dog run need to be simplified. • Elly asked which parks need remediation. • John asked that there be a review of the Gowanus Canal process and that the committee be kept informed. • Lisa asked if the committee can get park related data from 311 either pro or con? Van Voorhees Park at Congress/Columbia Streets needs some sound attention. • Valentino Pier sign needs maintenance and the boat house too. In general, look at under-utilized areas. • Halleck Street behind Red Hook field is not a street or a park. The Department of Transportation needs to clean it up and then the Parks Department will accept it. • General discussion concluded.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:45pm. The minutes were submitted by Barbara Ginsberg.
