 MINUTES 

The meeting was called to order at 6:40pm.

Presentation by the consultant team for Friends of Brooklyn Community Board 6, Inc. on the Gowanus Canal Corridor Brownfield Opportunity Area (BOA) grant, a State-funded project whose goal is to formulate adaptive reuse plans and economic redevelopment strategies for brownfield properties in portions of the Gowanus Canal corridor.

The Committee Co-chair, Rick Luftglass opened the meeting and introduced CB6 District Manager, Craig Hammerman who provided background on the BOA grant/project.

Steve Whitehouse made the presentation on BOA Nomination Study and team structure (funders, clients, advisors, team members). Process, product, project outcome.

Data information collected and assembled. Reports from stakeholder’s meeting. Questions asked: • Will this provide accessible activities or just a planning exercise?

• What is the criteria for a “strategic site”?

Next steps: • Getting additional surveys. • Interviewing other businesses with different knowledge, e.g. about the market pressures. • Synthesizing information, fleshing out themes that align with the data.

There being no further business to come before the committee, the meeting was adjourned.
