FLOOD RESILIENCE ZONING TEXT AMENDMENT
Presentation and review of a proposal by the Department of City Planning for a Flood Resilience Zoning Text Amendment (N 130331 ZRY) to enable new and existing buildings throughout designated flood zones to meet the latest federal standards for flood-resistant construction.
Aline Feder and Thomas Wargo of the Department of City Planning presented for our review a proposal by the department for a Flood Resilience Zoning Text Amendment to enable new and existing buildings throughout designated flood zones to meet the latest federal standards for flood-resistant construction.
There were many questions from the committee in regard to this amendment and the new FEMA Flood Zone Construction Standards, which are presently in flux and won't be finalized until 2015. The City is anticipating FEMA's new Standards, and in order to be ready this is their strategy.
