Presentation on New York State Assembly Bill A.8478-A and Senate Bill S.6496-A respectively, an act to amend the vehicle and traffic law and the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to reducing the speed limit in the city of New York to twenty miles per hour.
No one from Senator Squadron or Montgomery’s office came to make the presentation. Assembly Member Millman’s office had not confirmed.
Matthew Silverman asked about what other cities are doing – is there a standard?
Jerry Armer made a motion to recommend support of the revised New York State Assembly Bill A.8478-A and Senate Bill S.6496-A which would effectively lower the base speed limit in New York City to 25 mph and allow DOT discretion to further reduce the speed limit to 20 mph. The motion was seconded by Matt Silverman. There was no discussion of the motion.
Soyar Lonial called the question. The recommendation was approved unanimously.
There being no further business to come before the committee, Jerry Armer motioned to adjourn.
Minutes submitted by Eric McClure.
