CHAIRPERSON’S REPORT…………………………………………...PETER FLEMING, BOARD CHAIR
Board Chair Peter Fleming opened the meeting with very brief remarks, commenting on the current status of the review by a Judge regarding virtual hearings for the Uniform Land Use Review Process, which is most immediately relevant to the proposed Gowanus Rezoning, among other possible reviews moving forward. The Chair, in preparation for a potential ruling that may in fact allow for virtual hearings, asked all those on the Board and in attendance on the zoom to contact the District Office for any suggestions on how the Board can improve upon its existing practices for virtual meetings or ideas and best practices for scaling up to what will likely be larger than usual meetings/hearings, should the possibility come to pass.
The Chair closed his remarks by commenting that this month’s meeting should be relatively short given the lack of an actual review item or committee update, and he welcomed the presenters from New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. 1
DISTRICT MANAGER’S REPORT……………………MICHAEL RACIOPPO, DISTRICT MANAGER
District Manager Michael Racioppo also offered brief remarks, thanking the team from New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. He also mentioned that the District Office has asked the City via letter for a comprehensive truck traffic study, most specifically relevant to the proliferation of last mile warehouses in Red Hook.
vvv COMMITTEE REPORTS vvv
There were no open items for review, nor relevant committee updates. The Board received a roughly sixty-minute presentation from Loren Avellino, et al from the New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital outlining COVID-19 vaccine eligibility and rollout.
