Attendance:

Jerry Armer Jules Block Dillon Shen-Cruz Anna Hippee Katie Bishop, Doug Gordan Tony Meleone Catherine Vaughan Zoom: Leroy Branch Gaston Melo Felgueres Alan Mukamal Madeline Murphy Scott Middleton *****Minutes***** Committee updates, recap (5 min): Last meeting recap (Transportation) CB6 Slow Zone resolution passed the Full Board. Full text: Recognizing CB6’s commitment to safer streets and support for Sammy’s Law, we recommend that NYC DOT institute a district-wide 20 MPH slow zone on all applicable streets, and adjust signal timing to reflect the new limit, with camera enforcement. We also call for the adoption of a citywide speed limit of 20mph on all applicable streets. Mayor Mamdani just announced 15mph slow zones around many NYC schools. We spoke with Megan Flynn and Anthony Drummond of the MTA. Asked for updates on the Flatbush busway plan. Discussed ways to increase R train service, especially on weekends. We discussed the initial responses to the Street Safety Issue Report form. Parks

Presentation from the Prospect Park Alliance.

Questions: Why are new restrooms so expensive? The administration is looking into less expensive options. In the redevelopment of the vale, is it possible for the wood to be reused by artists? Some trees are diseased, but we’ll look into it. How can we preserve the legacy of the Vale for the Queer community? Call for future agenda items. Transportation: Introduction, DOT Liaison Derek Walker Updates on current DOT projects/priorities. CB6 priorities Columbia St. Waterfront traffic safety improvements. Bus bulb-out at President St? Carroll St. Bridge pedestrianization? Completing the protected bike lane network. Bergen right turn to Smith is a challenge; eliminating parking on that block of Smith could help Could add a protected lane on Bond St, or a slow zone, a complete street. Julia flagged that potholes are not getting filled properly. Loading Zones. Ask for an updated timeline for the 5th Ave redesign. Motion: “CB6 supports returning parking enforcement to the DOT, where it was before 1996, so it can get the attention it needs, and asks our elected officials to support this. This would allow the NYPD to focus on crime reduction.” Street Safety Issue Report form. Analysis: any new issues from last time?
