Benjamin Hollberg from Hollberg Architecture, who superseded the previous applicant, presented the project. The committee had several questions and concerns about the chimney extension, glass railings, size of mechanical enclosure, front door, etc. No comments from the community. Jerry - Motion to conditionally approve with reduction in size of mechanical enclosure and modification of second floor terrace at rear back to originally-approved design with cast iron railings. Peter - seconded motion Dave - friendly amendment to replace glass railing at main roof with originally-approved design with cast iron railings and provide low-iron glass at upper roof in lieu of regular glass.
Jerry and Peter accepted a friendly amendment. 6 votes for, 2 abstentions. Motion passed.
309 President Street - Application for a Certificate of Appropriateness for rear yard extension in Carroll Gardens Historic District. Applicant confirmed that the building is being converted from a four-family multiple dwelling to a single family residence. Studio PHH presented the project. The committee had questions about the stairs, brick details, etc. No comments from the community. Jerry - Motion to conditionally approve with replacement of brick soldier courses above rear elevation windows with stone lintels which match original details and other rear yard elevations in the vicinity. Bob - seconded motion Maddie - honoree motion.
