I hope this email finds you well as we head into the  third weekend  of October.It's been a busy week in our community and   city at large . So, as we welcome the prospect of restful days ahead, check out some of the items below.

So, as we welcome the prospect of restful days ahead, check out some of the items below. Those items include our latest statement surrounding Gowanus, upcoming meetings, train changes, and traffic advice, and more.

Keeping things in chronological order, I'll begin   by sharing the letter we hashed out and sent over to the Department of City Planning (DCP ) . The letter contained in the bolded hyperlink above reiterates our priorities and concerns about the pending rezoning of Gowanus.

Speaking of Gowanus, as I've mentioned,  Gowanus Open Studios  is this week and will feature hundreds of artists, including our very own   David Briggs . On Saturday, in Red Hook, you can hop aboard the   Mary A Whalen during Portside's open house  and then on Sunday get a   flu shot at Assemblymember Carroll's   office- call (718)-788-7221 to make an appointment.

After getting a flu shot, you may feel better about going out in public and attending a committee meeting or two, and, as luck would have it, 2 of our committees meet next week. The first is on Wednesday, when our   Youth, Human Services, and Education Committee  meets at the   Red Hook Library  to hear about plans for the library's redesign, as well as a presentation from the   NYC 2020 Census Complete Count . The second is on Thursday, October 24th, when our   Landmarks/ Land Use Committee meets  to review 1 landmark application.

Looking further into the future, our  Permits and Licenses committee meets  the following Monday, October 28th. Due to the expanding agenda, it will get started at 6:00 pm and not it's usual 6:30 pm. Speaking of BKCB6 restaurants and bars, 7 of them, were named to the Michelin Bib Gourmand list.

Just like today, alternate side parking (ASP) will be in effect throughout the weekend and mimicking this week; ASP will   be suspended next Monday and Tuesday . As you travel around, please take note of   MTA changes  and   DOT's advice  regarding traffic.
