Happy "eve" of All Hallows' Eve. The mist of today isn't the 90s computer game and makes it harder to see, but reading on you’ll, hopefully, see what’s happening across our community a bit more clearly.

Happy "eve" of All Hallows' Eve. The mist of today isn't the 90s computer game and makes it harder to see, but reading on you’ll, hopefully, see what’s happening across our community a bit more clearly.

No amount of rain, or mist, was about to stop the crew at yesterday’s B arnacle Parade or the unveiling of Sandy’s high-water mark in Red Hook . It also won’t deter the Red Hook Civic Association from meeting tonight, Wed, Oct 30th 7:00 PM at P.S 15 or Congresswoman Velasquez from hosting a cancer awareness event on Monday, Nov 4 th at the Red Hook Library.

In another of our water adjacent neighborhoods, the future of the Gowanus remains obscured. However, after yesterday’s Landmark Preservation Commission vote 5 properties were designated as historic landmarks we have a better sense of what the future holds . We proudly supported these designations that maintain a sense of place and time.

As noted by my frightful attempt at humor in the first sentence, tomorrow, Thurs, Oct 31st, is Halloween and lots will be happening. The  Park Slope Civic Council hosts its annual parade  from 7th Avenue and 14th Street down to the  Old Stone House . The  Brooklyn Conservatory of Music  becomes the  Con-spook-atory ,  Cobble Hill will also have a parade  while in Carroll Gardens,  Scotto’s , led by our very own John Heyer   will scare you and then calm you with candy . Also, if you're around Warren Street stop by and say hi as our very generous Joe Anne Brown will be giving out candy to trick or treaters until 8 pm. Even if you don’t want candy they’ve got a great decoration display .

Again , Halloween has a lot going on, so if you think I’ve missed a community-centric celebration,   please reach out , and I’ll be happy to share it.

If you plan on using the subway, tomorrow, Thurs, Oct 31,  click here for planned for service changes  and here for   bus service changes . Also, just like today, Alternate Side Parking (ASP) regulations will be in effect   tomorrow, Thurs, Oct 31,  but suspended the next day on Fri, Nov 1 st .     Regardless of ASP,   you can vote all week and remember our Nov Full Board meeting is 2 weeks from today.
