First up, the  Gowanus CAG has delivered their petition to N.Y. State Dept. of Environmental Conservation asking that the water quality requirements for the Gowanus Canal be updated to reflect current and planned future uses. CB6 has long and proudly supported improvement in Gowanus canal water quality and for that reason signed onto the petition.

We have twice passed UNANIMOUS resolutions, supporting improvements quality. Our support goes back to May of 2012 , and most recently, our Environmental Protection Committee Co-Chair Hildegaard Link presented this at our December 2019 General Board meeting, and we UNANIMOUSLY reiterated our support for reclassification. Big thank you to Hildegaard and her committee’s work and participation in the CAG to ensure we keep pushing in the right direction.

Speaking of appreciation for our Environmental Protection Committee Co- Chair’s, another big “thank you!” to Hildegaard’s counterpart Angelica Ramdhari , who pinch-hit for our Chair Peter Fleming at Brooklyn Borough Board last night.

Keep scrolling for more, have a good evening, and feel free to share this information however you’d like.
