I hope this email finds you well as we start phase 1 of the “reopening .” It’s important to not let up on social distancing and covering our faces, as letting up could lead to more tragedies and prevent us from getting to the next phase. I’d like to dine at a restaurant and get my haircut (I have already had some constructive criticism my current look) sometime soon. Due to awkward phrasing in the previous sentence, I want to make clear; I will get my haircut at a barbershop, not at a restaurant. Of course, hair care and dining plans pale in significance with the multipronged crisis we’re facing.

It was great to see our community engage in a peaceful protest starting in Red Hook yesterday. Hopefully, it will continue to remind us that we have the means to be heard and the power to change things. Speaking of change, and coincidentally Red Hook, Assemblymember Ortiz’s Bill making it a hate crime when 911 callers make false accusations based on race, gender or religion is likely to be among many upcoming reforms. 

Of course, we’ll see what happens in these crazy times of ours. The items below my email signature may contain some information that helps you navigate by answering a question or 2. I’m biased in favor of you reading them, but no matter what you decide, enjoy the rest of your day.
