Two, three, eventually four

I hope this email finds you well after the holiday weekend as we kick off “ Phase 3 ” of the reopening.

I hope this email finds you well after the holiday weekend as we kick off “ Phase 3 ” of the reopening.

Phase 3 means you can get a tattoo, get a manicure, play some basketball, and follow it up with a massage. This is all going at the pace and schedule that was outlined but with one big exception, and that is, we still won't have indoor dining. For that reason, the city is moving forward with plans to expand outdoor dining options with more “Open Streets” for restaurants. As of now, there are open streets for restaurants in our district along with other blocks in Red Hook, and more can be applied for here . Even where they aren’t “open” the outdoor has received rave reviews

No matter the food or where it’s eaten, we have to keep up the discipline that allowed us to flatten the Covid-19 curve to a remarkable degree . If we don’t keep it up, there will be a spike , and we will risk shutting down/ hitting “ pause ” again.

On a positive note, New York City has not missed a benchmark since beginning its reopening in early June. If that trend holds, the city may be cleared for phase four in mid-July, which includes “Low risk" activities such as going to museums, zoos, botanical gardens, pro sporting events taking place without live spectators, and something on the minds of parents, teachers, and students, schools opening.

As I find out more about these and other matters through all phases, I’ll share it. For now, I’d say keep scrolling down and enjoy the rest of your Monday.

Best,
