I hope this email finds you well on this autumnal Tuesday. Embracing fall stereotypes, I look forward to being resplendent in plaid and sweaters. 

Putting aside fall fashion humor, I’ll be brief as a lot of people are busy with tomorrow’s first day of remote school for ALL NYC Public School students, whether they are enrolled in a blended or full remote learning option. The Mayor predicts that Covid-19 cases will be a “temporary” reality for schools this year, but I understand how some are skeptical of that claim. We are aware of how contagious this virus is, and we know 19 school employees recently tested positive, and 79 have previously died from it.

On that note, please refrain from emailing me sickening statements about teachers, and consider using your time more constructively. I have the greatest respect for teachers, and that isn't going to change.

Anyway, back to my typical optimistic wishes that you have a great Tuesday and request that you check the items below my signature.

Lastly, I hope everyone, from students’ parents, teachers, paraprofessionals, school administrators, and everyone who has worked so hard throughout the pandemic, such as District 15’s Superintendent Anita Skop and her Deputy Kelly McGuire, has a great first day of school tomorrow!
