I hope this email finds you well after last night’s board meeting. It was good to “see” and hear from everyone. I’m sure we, and that very much includes me, will get the “mute/unmute/host function down sooner than later. We had a good turnout with over 150 attendees, including 37 board members, representatives from every government level, and Chairperson Peter Fleming’s ten-week-old puppy, Monte. The voting agenda consisted of passing two recommendations from our Economic, Waterfront, Community Development, and Housing Committee. One was in support of the MEND program, and the other supported affordable housing and by exploring and expanding the development of accessory dwelling units.

You may see those resolutions here, as well as the letter we’d written to DOT in support of a comprehensive traffic study. But, if you want to relive the magic, you can watch the meeting here on YouTube.  

Also, as mentioned last night, we have a few meetings coming up, including next Wednesday’s Parks Committee meeting and Thursday’s Landmark/Land Use meeting, which will include DCP presenting an overview of the timeline for precertification’ plans regarding the pending Gowanus Neighborhood rezoning. 

Before telling you to keep reading below my signature, I’d like to congratulate 2 CB6 board members. Firstly congrats to John Heyer on being part of Governor Cuomo’s commission for the Mother Cabrini statue that was recently unveiled at the start of Italian Heritage Month. Secondly, congrats to David Briggs’s architecture firm LOCI Architecture which received a 2020 Lucy G. Moses Preservation Award.
