I hope this email finds you well after an enjoyable weekend that encompassed both Passover and Easter. 

While we don't have any CB6 meetings, our community and members remain busy this coming week. That busyness ranges from drawing classes to roofless comedy, a 76th Precinct Community Council meeting chaired by CB6 public safety chair Jerry Armer, and a Participatory Budgeting expo led by our very own CB6 environmental protection co-chair, Angelica Ramdhari. These events are virtual or held with safe distancing because we're not yet past the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, according to Health Department Advisor Dr. Jay Varna, there is some hope that if we pick up the vaccination pace, the city could be “completely out of this in six to eight weeks.” That's a sunny position, but no matter what, the sooner people get vaccinated, the sooner we will get “completely out” of this. To be clear, no one can know exactly what “completely out” ends up looking like.

Keeping with the theme of getting past the pandemic, I’ll remind anyone reading that as of tomorrow, Tuesday, April 6th, ALL NEW YORKERS OVER the age of 16 will be ELIGIBLE to receive one of the COVID-19 vaccines. You can click here to make an appointment. Suppose you’re at least 75 years of age, or tag along with somebody who is, you can walk into the Brooklyn Army Terminal and get a shot without making an appointment. No matter how you chose to get it, get it ASAP.
