I hope this email finds you well on this, now sunny, Tuesday, the 13th day of April, and the eve of our full board meeting.

I hope this email finds you well on this, now sunny, Tuesday, the 13th day of April, and the eve of our full board meeting.

Again, our full board meeting will be held tomorrow in about 24 hours, and in about 48 hours, our Transportation & Public Safety Committee will meet. Click here to register for those meetings as well as the two committee meetings we’ll be having next week. On Monday, April 19th, EWCDH will meet, and Landmarks/ Land Use meets on Thursday, April 22nd. You can also find out about these meetings just by walking around our community.

Onto things outside our orbit. The city has suspended the use of the Johnson & Johnson(J&J) COVID-19 vaccine in line with CDC guidelines. If you are scheduled to receive the J&J vaccine, you’ll be rescheduled for a Moderna or Pfizer vaccine dose. Please note that this suspension is based on only 6 cases out of the nearly 7 million J&J doses that have been given. It is, in the truest sense, done with an abundance of caution to reduce vaccine hesitancy.

The Department of Education and the Department of Youth and Community Development announced the new Summer Rising initiative. It’s a free summer program open to all kids from Kindergarten through 12th grade that will be in person and safe, utilizing outdoor space. It will provide school-based academic and social enrichment programs in advance of the next, hopefully, more normal, school year. However, you’ll be able to find out more here, and applications for the grades Kindergarten through 8th Grade will be available here beginning April 26th.

In closing, I’d suggest reading on, getting vaccinated, and enjoying the rest of your Tuesday.

Best,
Mike Racioppo, District Manager
