I’m sure most people reading this have already heard about the CDC guidance on the mask from a source with a wider reach than this newsletter. For those who haven't, it boils down to this - fully vaccinated people don't need to wear face coverings except in certain settings. Among those settings here in NYC are subways and buses. No matter how you cut it, that makes a great argument for getting vaccinated against COVID-19 ASAP. Our city, and community, stats are looking good, and they’ll look even better as more people are vaccinated. 

Looking toward the weekend mentioned in the first sentence, we’ve got a lot going on. Tomorrow, Saturday, May 15th, Arts Gowanus kicks off an outdoor art market at the Old Stone House, the Dredgers host a dance party, and the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music will have 20 stages of free music across Park Slope. There’s more happening and info than I could expect anyone to tolerate in a newsletter intro/musing happening across our community, so check out the calendars for the Old Stone House, Gowanus Dredgers and, the Brooklyn Public Library , Prospect Park, and Brooklyn Conservatory of Music.

Looking past the weekend, our EWCDH committee meets on Monday, May 17th and our Parks committee will meet on Wednesday, May 19th. Both of these meetings will take place over zoom and begin at 6:30 PM. 

Briefly looking back, for those who missed it or want a refresher on Wednesday’s board meeting, you can watch it all here on Youtube. As far as news, aside from CB6 resident, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, having stopped by, discussed the latest court order for the Gowanus Rezoning ULURP. In practical terms, that means we are now scheduled to hold a public hearing, in partnership with Brooklyn Community Board 2, on June 3rd, and it's to feature both in-person and outdoor options for testifying at a public hearing. There will also be a rain date scheduled for the following Thursday, June 10th. Further specifics and logistics are being worked out for this, and as they are finalized, I’ll readily share them. The goal, of course, is to have everyone who wants to participate get a chance to do so. To make this happen, we had to move our June board meeting to the 4th Wednesday of the month, June 23rd. 

They’ll be more about next week, next week. On that note, I’ll recommend reading past my signature, staying safe, and having a great weekend!
