I hope this email finds you well after a weekend of a solemn anniversary. I know that wasn’t the only thing happening as there were lots of great block parties and other happenings. I’d include the VMA ‘s among those happenings but I’m too old and unhip to know what was happening or who was on stage.

Speaking of happening, today was the first day of fully in-person learning in our city's schools since March 2020. For all those who returned, or had someone in their family return to the classroom today, we hope it was a good, or as good as possible, first day at the start of a safe and successful school year

Sticking with safety, we’re seeing a drop in Covid-19 infection rates and hope that’s permanently sustained. However, the best way to sustain that is not to hope but through vaccination against Covid-19. If you need more convincing of the 1.3 million infections, just 4%(58k) of them were among the unvaccinated.

In addition to convincing for the sake of survival, There is an exhortation for the sake of socializing. I say that as today begins the enforcement of the city’s vaccine mandate for many indoor activities such as gyms, restaurants, movies and museums, and more. Some of the events listed below my signature require vaccination and I’d suggest scrolling down and checking them out.

But even if you don't scroll down, stay safe and enjoy the rest of your Monday.

Best,
