I hope this email finds you well and to all the rest of us celebrating a Happy Festivus. Today, for maybe the last time in 2021, I’ll focus on the two most popular newsletter topics: the Gowanus Rezoning and Covid-19.

First, concerning the Gowanus Rezoning, you may recall that the Points Of Agreement (POA) includes funding for community facilities. One of those facilities is The Old Stone House (OSH) which today was presented with a check for 10.95 Million dollars from Mayor de Blasio to upgrade facilities and improve accessibility. It was an honor to represent BKCB6 as the funding announcement was made alongside Comptroller-Elect Brad Lander, Assembly Member Robert Carroll, Brooklyn Parks Commissioner Marty Maher, and of course, the OSH’s Executive Director Kim Maier. Today's event reinforced everyone’s hard work and the details that went into the Gowanus rezoning. It is a testament to the dividends a community working together can bring about. As someone who went to MS51, which shares Washington Park with OSH, it’s amazing how far this historical site has come under Kim Maier’s leadership. There is no doubt that she’ll use this funding to benefit our community greatly.
