In these final hours, I’ll remind you that tonight, from 6 until 8 pm, the Gowanus CAG will be holding an in-person town hall at PS 32 on the clean-up of the canal with EPA.

Looking back briefly to the life of someone who cared about the canal and all things neighborhood, it was great to see so many people come out for the co-naming of First Place & Court Street in honor of Salvatore “Buddy” Scotto. Included in the crowd were multiple CB6 members like his daughter Deb and his successor at the funeral home John Heyer II, whom Councilmember Hanif graciously permitted to emcee the reveal. In addition, Councilmember Hanif, Comptroller Lander, Assemblymember Simon, Justice Pesce, and a former Mayor from CB6 spoke, and our current Mayor issued a heartfelt proclamation.
