Before starting your weekend, it can be a good idea to reflect on the week that was, especially if earlier in the week held our full board meeting. That being the case, I’ll summarize and suggest some stuff.

Before starting your weekend, it can be a good idea to reflect on the week that was, especially if earlier in the week held our full board meeting. That being the case, I’ll summarize and suggest some stuff. 

Our February Full board meeting was held on Wednesday, February 8th, in-person at the Van Alen Institute and virtually over Zoom. CB6 chairperson Eric McClure ran the meeting; we heard from government officials at the federal, state & city levels, held a community session, and ratified four motions from CB6 committees. 

Two of those motions were for new liquor licenses; a Thai restaurant at 204 Smith Street and a Caribbean fusion restaurant at 321 9th Street. The CB6 Permits & Licenses Committee approved both on January 30th. On Wednesday, after Permits & Licenses chair Rebecca Kobert summarized both applications, the CB6 Full Board voted to approve. 

Two applications for Certificates of Appropriateness were up next. The first would allow for a rear yard and roof extension at 30 Tompkins Place. On January 26th, the CB6 Landmarks Committee approved this application on the condition that the rooftop’s fenestration is reduced. Landmarks Chair David Briggs presented this; just like in committee, the full board approved it. The last of these four motions was an application to allow mechanical equipment on the roof and a rear door in the garden facade of 17 Prospect Park West. Our Landmarks Committee disapproved of this application, David Briggs presented it, and the Full Board concurred with the committee and disapproved.
