Sadly, it’s necessary to start by announcing the passing of long-time CB6 member Tom Miskel. In addition to being a member of CB6, Tom was a member of The Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick and the Park Slope Civic Council and remained involved with many other community organizations, such as the Brooklyn Public Library, the YMCA, and Methodist Hospital. He was also a military veteran who ran the Park Slope Veterans museum for years. 

These organizations and our shared community benefited from Tom Misklel. I learned a great deal from him when I became a member of CB6 almost a decade ago and was on the same committees (Permits & Licenses. Landmarks/Land Use). He also co-chaired our Transportation Committee for years with our current Chair, Eric McClure. He’ll be missed by many across our community, including his sister Helena. For those that don’t know, Helena was an extraordinary volunteer in the CB6 office for many years.

Tom’s funeral mass is at 9:30 AM tomorrow, Saturday, April 1st, at Saint Saviour’s, followed by interment at Green-Wood Cemetery.

However, before that, I must announce that April’s Full Board meeting is on Wednesday, April 19th, beginning at 6:30 PM and will be held at Van Alen and over Zoom. This is of note due to it being 3rd Wednesday of the month instead of the usual second Wednesday.
