For those who observing Easter or Ramadan I hope you’re able to find peace and joy.Of course, the same hope extends to those not observing or celebrating anything, and regardless of religion, there's some hope that it may not rain this weekend. Regardless of religion or rain I’ll recap some recommendations and make some suggestions.

On Monday, our Permits & Licenses Committee met at 250 Baltic Street and voted to recommend approval of three liquor license applicants: one for a cafe, catering, and event space at 177 Dwight Street in Red Hook, another for a Chinese restaurant at 392 5th Avenue in Park Slope, and a bar in Gowanus at 274 3rd Avenue. The bar will be owned and operated by the same people who own and operate the neighboring establishment, Cafe Mars. On Thursday, at Van Alen & Zoom, our Land Use committee met and reviewed a ULURP application for 150 Mill Street to change the zoning from the current M1-1 to an M1-5 to facilitate the development of a mixed-use building for retail, health and care, and office space. The committee voted to recommend approval with conditions that community benefits, such as a supermarket, be part of a binding community benefit agreement. 

The recommended approvals in the preceding paragraph now progress to a vote at our next Full Board meeting on Wednesday, April 10th, beginning at 630 PM, in person at the Van Alen Institute and virtually via Zoom.
