HPD maintains building and resident safety and health, creates opportunities through housing affordability, and engages New Yorkers to sustain neighborhood strength and diversity.
HPD enforces the Housing Maintenance Code, inspecting homes for housing quality on behalf of tenants, and finances and oversees affordable housing, including Housing Connect lotteries.
