What do these park types mean?

Flagship Park: A large destination park serving the whole borough or city, with major facilities and dedicated administration. Prospect Park is CB6's flagship.

Community Park: A mid-size park serving several surrounding neighborhoods, typically with a mix of active and passive recreation.

Neighborhood Park: A smaller park serving the immediate area around it, usually within walking distance of the people who use it.

Playground: A property built around play equipment, typically with safety surfacing, sprinklers, and seating.

Jointly Operated Playground: A playground on Department of Education property, run jointly by NYC Parks and the school. Schools use it during school hours and the public uses it after.

Recreational Field/Courts: A property made up primarily of ball fields or courts rather than general parkland.

Garden: A community garden or planted green space, often licensed through the GreenThumb program.

Triangle/Plaza: A small paved or planted space, usually formed where streets intersect at an angle.

Strip: A narrow band of parkland, often running along a roadway, median, or waterfront edge.

Undeveloped: Mapped parkland that has not been built out for public use.
