Park Slope, Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill, Red Hook, Gowanus, and the Columbia Street Waterfront District
Pick any stretch of any street in the district and see everything on it. Choose a street and the two cross streets that bound the part you care about, or search an address, or drop a pin on the map. The block lights up, and every record the site holds for that stretch comes back: street work and building permits, 311 reports, crime complaints, liquor licenses, landmarked buildings, every lot with its zoning, businesses, block parties, schools, parks, and the rest.

Example: 14th Street, from 4th Avenue to 8th Avenue. Pick the same cross street twice for a single corner. Leave To on "end of street" for everything from the From street onward.
Address or place
Type a house number and street. The search is biased to Brooklyn CB6 but will find any NYC address.

Permits and work by date
From
To
By default you see permits and work in effect today or starting in the next 30 days. Nothing already finished is shown unless you look back. Applies to street work, building permits, landmark permits, resurfacing and permitted events, on the map and in the results below. A permit counts if any part of its work window falls inside the range. Looking back past the last year also pulls the Department of Buildings permit history for every lot on the stretch, live from NYC Open Data (2007 onward).
How to read this.
The stretch
Streets and cross streets come from the Department of Transportation street centerline. When you pick From and To, the tool walks the centerline between those two intersections and highlights it in orange. Everything within the reach you chose of that line is counted.
Reach
A Brooklyn block is roughly 60 to 80 meters deep from the street to the middle of the block. "Both sides of the block" catches the buildings fronting the street on both sides. "A block either way" reaches into the neighboring blocks too.
Live records
311 reports (last 12 months), NYPD crime complaints (this year to date), and lots with zoning are pulled live from NYC Open Data each time you pick a stretch. Everything else is from this site's own data files, refreshed nightly.
Placement
Every record is placed by its own coordinates. Nothing here is summed from precinct or district totals.
