Every licensed food store in Brooklyn, by community district
New York State licenses every retail food store: the corner deli, the bodega, the fruit and vegetable stand, the bakery, the supermarket. This is the full Brooklyn list, 4,253 stores, each placed in its community district. The state records which stores hold a bakery license and which prepare food on site, and those are the two filters. It does not record whether a store calls itself a deli, a grocery or a produce stand, so there is no filter for that. Search by name, street, zip code, or a district written any way you like, as Brooklyn 6, BKCB6 or 306. Community board 6 entries carry an orange rule down the left.
Community district breakdown
The same stores counted by district. Each district shows its store total, how many hold a bakery license, how many prepare food on site, and the square footage the stores reported. Tap a district to open its own page.
Source: the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets retail food store license file for Kings County, published on data.ny.gov, last updated by the state September 30, 2025, downloaded September 2, 2026. Establishment codes are the state’s: A is a store, B a bakery, C a food manufacturer, which for a retail store means food prepared on site. Community district is assigned by point in polygon against Department of City Planning district boundaries using the state’s coordinates; 78 stores the state did not geocode were geocoded from their address with NYC Planning Labs geosearch. One record with a Manhattan address filed under Kings is excluded and one record with an unreadable address could not be placed. Square footage is self reported. License records lag openings and closings, so confirm before you travel.
