I hope this email finds you well after a weekend that included a Sunday on which thousands, many BKCB6ers among them, marched against hate .

I hope this email finds you well after a weekend that included a Sunday on which thousands, many BKCB6ers among them, marched against hate .

The weekend also included, on Saturday, a Warren Street tenant’s initiated meeting with the stated goal of letting residents know that there was going to be a request made to the Mayor asking that NYCHA hold another meeting to answer questions, with greater clarity than there has been, on topics such as lease renewals and the RAD program .

BKCB6 Board member and Warren Street resident, Joe Anne Brown, was kind enough to invite me to this meeting and with that, I was able to extend the invitation to the Mayor’s Deputy Chief of Staff, Lincoln Restler who, like me, accepted the invitation; his attendance allowed the residents, and their meeting request, to be directly heard and responded to. Mr. Restler assured those in attendance, including Ben Solitaire from Councilman Levin’s office & representatives from the Gowanus Neighborhood Coalition for Justice (GNCJ) , that NYCHA will hold an additional meeting accomplishing Saturday’s stated goal.

This Warren Street meeting further reinforces, issues we’ve highlighted throughout the Gowanus rezoning process , that significant improvements must be guaranteed for NYCHA.

Now moving to what will be a busy week that includes tonight’s Permits and Licenses Committee meeting and Wednesday’s General Board Meeting. There are plenty of happenings that you can review by scrolling down.
