Tonight, as I’ve been mentioning, our  Landmarks/ Land Use Committee meets at 250 Baltic Street to review one landmark application.

Last night our Youth/ Human Services and Education (YHSE) Committee met at the Brooklyn Public Library’s Red Hook branch . First on the agenda was a presentation from the library about its planned redesign. The presentation was well-received, and if you could not attend, you can see what was presented here . The other agenda item was the NYC 2020 Census Complete Count which focused their work to set up Neighborhood Organizing Census Committees(NOCC). If you are interested in being part of this effort to not only ensure that all New Yorkers get counted but that we get our fair share of funding for things like schools, roads, and buses check out this website .

Moving on to the near future on Monday, October 28 th , we have our Permits and Licenses Committee  meeting at 250 Baltic with a start time of 6:00 pm. On the next page of your calendar, please note that our November Board Meeting will take place at M.S 51 on November 13th.

On to other matters such as Halloween celebrations across our community. On Saturday, October 26th, we’ve got Halloween celebrations in Carroll Park , P.S 15 , and the Old Stone House , and on Sunday, October 27 th , in the Columbia Waterfront, the Urban Meadow hosts their annual parade .

Rest easy as parades will not be limited to the weekend. The 7 th annual Barnacle Parade is Tuesday, October 29 th , The Thomas Greene Playground Halloween Parade is on Wednesday, October 30 th, On Halloween itself, Thursday, October 31 st , Park Slope’s parade will start on 7 th Avenue , Cobble Hill’s parade kicks off at Cobble Hill Park while The Scotto Funeral Home maintains tradition on Court Street and the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music will become the Con-spook-atory .

Now there may be some scary stuff at those parades but nothing to compare with low voter turnouts. So, until the elections are over, I will haunt you with reminders that you can vote early for the first time evert starting this Saturday .

Just like today, alternate side parking (ASP) regulations will be in effect tomorrow, Thursday, October 25th , and, like every other day, there will be planned service changes on   subways  and  buses .
