Before we look forward, I’d like to draw your attention to some news made last night. At the CEC15 meeting, it was announced that the local school rezoning would be delayed .

Meanwhile, over at the Gowanus CAG , there was an update on the installation of the cut-off wall that is being constructed to prevent the recontamination of the Canal from toxins at the Fulton MGP site . The Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Project Manager Christos Tsiamis stated that it’s on track to be completed by August 2020 and said: “ so far, so good .” Also, the NYC Department of Environmental Protection(DEP) has asked, via letter, that EPA reconsider the initial rejection of their tunnel cleanup plan . However, it seems unlikely that the EPA would agree to DEP’s request given the basis of EPA’s rejection and considering that the EPA is the final authority for approval.

I attended the early voting forum held by Assemblymember Ortiz at the Miccio center, as I’m a zealous advocate of civic participation. I remain on high alert for all things that reinforce the importance of voting. Fitting such criteria are the proposed charter revisions . For example, question 5 would give Community Boards more time to review proposed land-use changes. The New York Landmarks Conservancy has now come out in favor of these changes . Way back in June, we asked DCP to apply such changes to the pending Gowanus rezoning.

Now, looking forward to the near future.

TONIGHT our Youth, Human Services, and Education Committee   will meet at the   Red Hook Library  to hear plans for the library's redesign, as well as a presentation from the   NYC 2020 Census Complete Count . 

Tomorrow, Thursday, October 24 th, our  Landmarks/ Land Use Committee meets at 250 Baltic Street to review one landmark application, and on Monday, Permits and Licenses Committee  meets at the same location. Our November Board Meeting will take place at M.S 51 on November 13 th.  

Just like today, alternate side parking (ASP) regulations will be in effect tomorrow, Thursday, October 24th, and, like every other day, there will be planned service changes on   subways  and  buses .
