I hope this email finds you well as November bursts onto the scene with some high-powered winds . We head into a weekend during which an hour of sleep could be be gained, and The New York City Marathon runs at a brisk pace through our district. So, be mindful of the Marathon’s route and cheer on the participants if you’d like but also remember to reset your clocks and check the batteries of your smoke/ carbon monoxide alarms. While you’re at it check out DOT’s traffic advisory , the  MTA’s Weekender and note that Alternate Side Parking, which is suspended today , will be in effect through the weekend and on Mon, Nov 4th , but again suspended on Election Day, Tuesday November 5th .

Speaking of the election, you can still vote early through Sunday, Nov 3rd , and the old fashioned way on Tuesday November 5th . .

It was great to see so many people out enjoying Halloween with so many young ghouls roaming across our community. Also, if you want to say goodbye to any pumpkins in your life, you can do so in style by smashing them at the Carroll Gardens Greenmarket next Sunday, November 10th . . However, if you can’t stand to look at a gourd for another week you can venture beyond the boundaries of our district and start smashing as soon as tomorrow, Nov 2nd .In case anyone was wondering, I don’t think Billy Corgan will be receiving royalty checks from this.

Looking ahead to next week, on Monday, Nov, 4th Congresswoman Velasquez will host a Cancer Awarenes s event at the Red Hook Library , and, on the same night CEC 15 will meet at Red Hook’s  P.S 676 . Over in the North Slope, also on Monday, the 78 th precinct will be holding a “Build The Block” meeting at the 6 TH Avenue Baptist Church while their neighboring precinct’s Community Council meets on Wednesday, November 6 th at 191 Union Street (The 76 th Precinct ) . Moving east on Union Street, at 501 Union , and one day ahead on the calendar, the Gowanus Canal Conservancy will host its annual meeting on Thursday, November 7th.

So that’s all I’ve got for today, feel free to share this info , have a great weekend and enjoy some extra sleep.

P.S- if you missed anything in this week's prior updates, you can see them here- Oct 28th . , 29th , 30 th , and 31 st .

Best,
