I hope this email finds you well after a weekend that included the marathon making its way through our district , and kick off the first full week of November- a week that will be stuffed full of happening, including the possibility of the first snow of the season .

Tonight, Monday, Nov, 4th  Congresswoman Velasquez will host a Cancer Awareness  event at the   Red Hook Library . Also in Red Hook, CEC 15 will meet  at P.S 676 , and, on the other side of our district, in the North Slope, the  78 th  precinct will be holding a “Build The Block”  meeting at the  6 th Avenue Baptist Church .

Now, as I’m sure regular readers of these emails know, I love encouraging all things voting. Whether it’s registration , early voting, or any other thing that's relevant to voting, I remind folks about it, as much as humanly possible. So I’d be remiss if I didn’t take this opportunity to remind you that tomorrow, Tuesday, November 5th, is, of course, Election Da y . This year everyone, regardless of party affiliation gets a say in how our city is governed by voting on proposed charter reforms , and as it is a general election, we all get to vote for the citywide office of Public Advocate . If you’re unsure where to vote, click here to find your polling location .

Along with the chance to vote tomorrow, Tuesday, November 5th, please be reminded that Alternate Side Parking and NYC Sanitation will be suspended . Also, NYC Public School STUDENTS have the day off.

Moving on to Wednesday, November 6 th , The 76 th Precinct’s Community Council , chaired by our very Jerry Armer, will meet at the Precinct station house, 191 Union Street (Between Hicks & Henry Streets) . Also on Wednesday, November 6th at 6:30 pm, the Saint John’s Place Community Association will be meeting at the Saint John’s Church to discuss the water main replacement project that has caused plenty of unintended problems in the North Slope .

On Thursday, November 7 th , the Gowanus Canal Conservancy will host its annual meeting at 501 Union Street while the Park Slope Civic Council will meet at the Old Stone House .
