I hope this email finds you well on this nearly freezing Friday as we head into Veterans Day Weekend.

I hope this email finds you well on this nearly freezing Friday as we head into Veterans Day Weekend.

As usual for a Friday email, it includes DOT’s weekend traffic advisory , the MTA "Weekender , " and a heads up that Alternate Side Parking will be in effect on Saturday, November 9 & Sunday the 10th, but suspended on Monday, November 11th for Veterans Day.  DSNY pickup will also be suspended for Veterans Day . Before our Monday holiday, and after it, we have plenty of stuff happening across our community in the days ahead.

Tomorrow, Saturday, November 9th many of our elected leaders will walk in support of immigrant children being held at the border . Also, tomorrow, in advance of Tuesday’s MTA Open House , members of the Red Hook community will be meeting at the Red Hook Library to discuss advocacy for their local issues relating to the Brooklyn Bus Redesign .

On Sunday, November 10th, you can do some baking at The Old Stone House and, if you’d like to rid yourself of any pumpkins, but want to do so in a fun/stress relieving and environmentally friendly way, come by the Carroll Gardens Greenmarket and smash them ! 

Monday, November 11th, is, of course, Veterans Day, and Carroll Park will be holding its annual ceremony by the War Memorial to honor all those who’ve fought for our country.

On Tuesday, November 12 th , as mentioned above, the MTA will be hosting an open house at the Park Slope Library , regarding the Brooklyn Bus Network Redesign , and many see this as an opportunity to bring back a revised version of the B71 bus . If you agree and have the time, join our friends at Citizen Squirrel before the open house to rally in support of its return ! On the same night (Nov 12), the 76 th precinct will be hosting a “Build The Block ” meeting at D’Amico’s .

Of course, don’t forget that next Wednesday, November 13th  is our General Board meeting , starting at 6:30 PM and held at M.S 51 .

We are lucky to have such an active community, so there’s always a chance I miss something. If there is any community-centric event or information you’d like me to share,  please reach out .
