Last night, Monday, December 2nd , despite the weather, we had over 60 people come out to PS 32 to hear about Public Place/ Gowanus Green at our EWCDH Committee meeting. Now, if you couldn’t make it, click here to see the presentation given by DCP & HPD . Much like a recording of a concert, reading over the presentation may not match the experience of being there, but it’s still worth the read, particularly for those new to the Gowanus process .
Tonight, Tuesday, December 3rd , we have multiple meetings happening across our always active community. The 78th Precinct holds its Community Council meeting beginning at 7:30 PM in the station house while the 76th Precinct has a “Build the Block” meeting, 7:00 PM start time, at Mary’s Star of the Sea . On the east side of the Canal, the Gowanus CAG meets at the Old American Can Factory from 6:30 until 8:30 PM, and at the Miccio Center, from 6 until 8:00 PM, there will be a Red Hook Farm meeting .
Looking a bit further into the week, on Thursday, December 5th, City Comptroller Stringer holds a Senior Town Hall at NYP Brooklyn Methodist , merchants along Smith & Court Streets will be celebrating the holidays with extended house hours and free samples while Pig Beach is hosting a tree lighting party !
It's easy to get lost in all the holiday cheer, but please don’t forget that our next General Board Meeting is a week from tomorrow on Wednesday, December 11th , 6:30 PM,at the Cobble Hill Health Center .
As I say every weekday, we’re lucky to have such an active community, and there is a chance I’ve missed something. If there is an event or anything else community-centric happening that you think I/others should know about, please reach out. .
Have a great evening and, as always, feel free to share this information however you’d like.
PS- Unlike the last 2 days, Alternate Side Parking is in effect tomorrow, Wednesday, December 4th.
