Last night our community was plenty active, and it was brought to you by the letters “B” and “Q,” as found in “BQX” and “BQE.”

The BQX took up the entire agenda of last night’s CB6 Transportation/Public Safety Committee meeting with a presentation given by EDC on the proposed streetcar. There’s always a healthy skepticism of big projects, and the BQX being no exception. Such feelings were evident and expressed at our meeting. If you weren’t able to attend, or want to try reliving the experience, check out the presentation slides here . You may also be interested in attending an upcoming public workshop to ask more questions and, hopefully, get more answers. Also, a big thank you to the Miccio Center for hosting us last night.

Around the same time, the BQE expert panel report was released. The biggest headlines out of it are recommendations for a reduction of lanes while preserving the promenade, but you can find more detail in articles such as this one . Big thanks to our Assistant District Manager Ty Beatty and Transportation Co-Chair Eric McClure for attending the report’s release at Borough Hall. Eric did impressive double duty since he made it to Red Hook in time to chair our Transportation Committee meeting.
