There is a limit of how “well” anyone can be right now given the COVD19 death toll and clear constitutional language losing meaning by the minute. 

However, within this reality, there is hope that we are past the worst as states begin coordinating how to “reopen.” Of course, the “how” is most important. The devil, after all, is in the details. If we don’t do it right, and according to proper public health guidelines, our efforts in supporting businesses that are holding on for dear life will be for naught. An important proposal for the “how” can be seen in Assemblymember Carroll’s bill to make insurance companies, that currently have 900 Billion in reserves, to pay “Business Interruption” claims that have been filed, but are in many instances being denied on technicalities. Now is not the time to put up additional roadblocks.

There is more on the bill below, along with other resources and items of interest, such as our letter to DYCD asking to find some other way to avoid canceling the Summer Youth Employment Program(SYEP). If it has to be named the Fall Youth Employment Program, so be it. As the letter states, we don’t want this program to be one more casualty of the pandemic.
