I hope this email finds you well on a day that once had significance as “Hump Day.” On a normal April 15th I would’ve led with something related to taxes and linked to an appropriate Beatles song (please note that Tax day is now July 15th).

I hope this email finds you well on a day that once had significance as “Hump Day.” On a normal April 15th I would’ve led with something related to taxes and linked to an appropriate Beatles song (please note that Tax day is now July 15th). 

Instead, on this April I5th, I'll tell everyone who isn’t already wearing a mask or face covering when outside, that they will be required to wear one w beginning this Saturday, April 18th.

Measures like this help limit the spread of COVID-19, but there is no chance of getting back to a sense of normality we all want until there is widespread testing available, and it can’t just be for people of means or access to a car. That is why we’ve written this letter to the Mayor and The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene , urging that the city does everything in its power to make testing sites readily available that don’t require access to a car. In both high and low-income portions of the city, including Community Board 6, under 50 percent of residents have a car.

Of course, this is new territory for all of us, and we don’t know precisely what shape this would take, but it may involve testing sites coming to people, but the bottom line is testing must be made available to EVERYONE ASAP.
