I hope this message finds you safe and healthy. Before moving on to other topics, I’ll remind everyone that the place to be on May 6th at 6:30 PM , at least according to the 40 or so people that have already signed up, is our 2nd virtual community “Check-in.”

Virtually “checking-in” is new terrain for everyone involved. The purpose, like the first “check-in”, is to keep the community informed and answer questions as clearly as possible. One way to do that is to submit questions here so that government agencies and officials that take part in the check-in will be able to provide the best information available.

One thing that will likely come up is the New York's plan for COVID-19 testing and tracing that was unveiled today and will be rolled out in the coming weeks.

Lastly, I know people are tired of being told to stay home, and I get it, but while you are there, along with completing the census , I recommend helping to ensure the MTA gets necessary funding by texting “Rider” to “522828” . Without it, the nearly 1 million essential workers who rely on public transportation will be faced with fewer trains and less reliable service. Based on the geography of social distancing, having fewer trains for more people is a bad idea. I’d like to thank CB6 and Red Hook’s own Karen Broughton for putting that on my radar.

As always, there are some items of interest below, including a very interesting map that CB6 member Joanna Smith brought my attention earlier today, along with other resources and reminders.
