I hope this email finds you as well as possible on this thunderous Tuesday that included a tornado warning . I think all of this is taking “when it rains it pours” to an all too literal place. 

If only there were better news to share rather than giving context to horrible amounts of fellow new Yorkers dying and suffering at a level, and in ways, few thought they’d ever see outside of a movie or a history book. This crisis will end eventually, but what our community looks like afterward will be affected by what we do now. Of course, part of what we can do now is stay home, socially distance, and cover our faces when we can’t. 

As you may have noticed, this crisis is costing quite a bit of money, and help is needed all around. One very simple thing you can do is fill out a census form to make sure New York gets its fair share. We are as a state, city, and borough lagging in responses. Understandably, the census isn’t the top thing on people’s minds , but it takes 10 minutes, and if you have computer capabilities sufficient to read this email, you should be able to fill it out . The census determines federal funding for hospitals and

money for programs that are supposed to be there to help small businesses in a time like this. Without a proper count, we are less likely, not just now, but for the next 10 years, to get what we need and deserve.

Another thing you could while we are "paused" do is mark your calendar & register for our second Community Check-In on Wednesday, May 6th, beginning at 6:30 PM. We had a great turnout for our last “Check-In” not surprising given the level of engagement in CB6 and environs, and we hope for the same this go around. As more is confirmed and figured out, you’ll be sure to hear about it from me.
