I only recalled this afternoon that it's Cinco De Mayo. Failing to remember the significance of a date is one of the most direct ways I'm reminded just how different things are right now.

I only recalled this afternoon that it's Cinco De Mayo.  Failing to remember the significance of a date is one of the most direct ways I'm reminded just how different things are right now. But don't forget why they have to be.

In previous years people would, for better or worse, take the opportunity to crowd into bars and restaurants to celebrate and socialize. Of course, this year, these establishments are limited to take out and delivery orders. I don't think anyone wants businesses, especially independent ones, to have disappeared whenever we "reopen." A way to do that is by ordering directly from these establishments . Another way to help would be through the passage of Assemblymember Carroll's legislation , which would make insurance companies honor their business interruption policy claims,

This legislation is a topic that will certainly be discussed at tomorrow night's "Check-in." The structure will be similar to April's " Check-in ." It will include Councilmember Brad Lander , State Senator Kavanagh , Assemblymembers Carroll & Simon , Comptroller Scott Stringer , and the DOE , DOT , and our district's biggest healthcare provider, NYP Brooklyn Methodist . To be clear, this list is fluid, and we may have some  " Check-in " changes.
