I’ll be brief but just wanted to highlight a few items as quarantine fatigue seems to set in, and we hope for a safe “reopening” sooner than later.

First, our old friend, the Gowanus Rezoning, is back in the news but only to acknowledge it's in limbo (there is still a hold on ULURP's ) and perhaps even farther than before from being certified. On the less wide-reaching, but more immediately impactful, Alternate Side Parking regulations are suspended tomorrow, Thursday, May 21st, but will be in effect Friday. 

Also happening tomorrow, Congresswoman Yvette Clarke will be hosting a Small Business & Non-Profit Town Hall that you can register for here. The town hall is being held in partnership with Congressmembers Hakeem Jeffries & Nydia Velasquez, Councilmember Lander, and Assemblymember Carroll.

If you feel that registering for one event isn’t enough for today, register for our June 17th “Check-In” here like over 50 people have done already. I'm sure that during the “Check- in” the city budget, which is due June 31st, will come up. A big issue surrounding the budget is whether or not the Summer Youth Employment Program(SYEP) will be funded and the City Council held a hearing on it today. For that reason, I think it’s appropriate to highlight that we were on the record opposing these cuts when they first announced in April.
