I hope this email finds you well as we transition seamlessly from remote learning and teaching on the last day of school for New York City's public school to stay/vacation time. Congrats to EVERYONE for getting through it. While school's out for summer, it isn't out forever, and hopefully, everyone can return to classrooms safely and sooner than later. An especially big congratulations to everyone who is graduating - if nothing else, when graduating in 2020, you'll never have to wonder if your experience was unique to all that have donned a cap and gown .

As a city we're heading to the weekend and on pace to be in " Phase 3 " of "reopening" on Monday, July 6th. That would mean, among other things, a significant expansion of our recreational resources (basketball, TENNIS, etc.), so please keep your distance and cover your face. Not doing so could lead to remaining in phase 2 or worse. I'm not saying this on a wing and a prayer. I'm saying it because when people don't take these precautions seriously, Covid-19 cases spike , and when they do, even with densely attended protests , the spread is slowed.
