First, as mentioned yesterday, there is the District 15 Rally & March for Safe Schools beginning at 11:30 in Cobble Hill Park and marching up to 5th Avenue then ending in Sunset Park. Also mentioned yesterday, you may send a letter to city elected officials asking them to keep literacy teachers in place to use their effective expertise to advance literacy instead of being used as a scattered group of substitute teachers. It takes less than a minute, and you'll be joining us in the company of Assemblymembers Simon & Carroll, Councilmember Lander, Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, and over 600 others who have already shown their support for ULIT.

One last thing on the school front is the City Council's Education Committee hearing on Thursday at 10:00 AM, considering a resolution asking to delay school building reopening's until buildings are made safe for all. You can register to testify or submit testimony here.

Anyway, I'll stop here and recommend checking out the items below, such as gyms reopening tomorrow and a reminder that we are down to 29 days left to complete the census. The census is so easy and so important to complete. It takes under 10 minutes and can help stop us from losing more congressional seats added to the prior loss of 40% of our seats due to undercounting over the course of the last seven censuses.

On that note, no matter what you do with the rest of it, enjoy the first day of September.

Best,
