As you may have noticed in yesterday's newsletter, the next Landmarks/Land Use meeting includes a presentation on a proposal for an alternative use exclusively as a park at the site commonly referred to as Public Place, along with two landmarking items. It'll take place via zoom, and you can join the meeting when it begins at 6 PM. Speaking of Gowanus, there's coverage in City Limits of the debate around the timing of the pending rezoning proposal. Keep in mind that we were on the record before the coronavirus made social distancing a thing asking for extensive pre-certification/ULURP review.

I'm sure you'll be hearing more about Gowanus as the calendar moves forward, and I'll certainly keep you posted, but in the meantime, check out the items below my email signature and please help increase our census completion numbers.

Before closing, I'd be remiss if I didn't acknowledge the loss of and pay tribute to the greatest of the few NY Mets baseball legends, Tom Seaver. He is among the growing number of those with comorbidities who we've lost to COVID-19. I'm not qualified to write his full obituary. Still, I always admired "Tom Terrific's" willingness to publicly state his opposition to the Vietnam War, saying that "if the Mets can win the World Series, then we can get out of Vietnam."

It's still helpful to remember what is possible, especially these days.
