I hope this email finds you well, and just like the first day of fall, I hope this Wednesday has proceeded swimmingly. Perhaps I should say, as swimmingly as 2020 can be.

I hope this email finds you well, and just like the first day of fall, I hope this Wednesday has proceeded swimmingly. Perhaps I should say, as swimmingly as 2020 can be. The crises we face seem to compound at every turn as structures, institutions, and leadership, fail regularly. However, like Howard Beale, I don’t have to tell you things are bad or to be mad.  

I will keep trying to advocate on behalf of and support the amorphous collective known as community and keep you in the loop as best I can. Part of that accounts for a compulsion to send a newsletter every weekday. However, a quick and easy way to help our community and beyond is to make sure you are registered to vote and complete the census. If you have time, maybe help people register to vote by directing them to this excellent resource from the League of Women Voters regardless of the State in which they live. 

With that, I’ll wish you the best for the rest of Wednesday; remind you that we have some meetings coming up, and I think you should check out the items below. 

Lastly, and it may be cold comfort, but it stuck in my head today, and it’s given me a bit of hope. Recently a biographer of James Baldwin was asked if Baldwin himself thought America would ever become a multi-racial democracy. The biographer responded by paraphrasing Seneca the Younger and said, “Wherever human beings are, we have a chance.”
