As I've mentioned, the COVID-19 trends have been going in a favorable direction around here, but we can't rest easy. For example, just today, the city announced upticks in 6 neighborhoods across the city, three of which are in Brooklyn.

As I've mentioned, the COVID-19 trends have been going in a favorable direction around here, but we can't rest easy. For example, just today, the city announced upticks in 6 neighborhoods across the city, three of which are in Brooklyn. 

So not only remember to keep your distance and wear a mask, but also keep in mind that what we went through was the “largest mass fatality incident” in the modern history of New York City, and we don't want to go through it again. For context, last year, at this point, the city had reported a total of 30,964 deaths, while that number has more than doubled to 65,712 reported deaths, with over 20 thousand deaths to be caused by COVID-19 in 2020. It's prudent, not pessimistic, to remind folks that we’re still in the middle of this and to remain cautious.

On the positive front, you can help save democracy right here in Brooklyn by registering to vote, making a plan to vote, or becoming a poll worker. I’m biased, but if you live in the 52nd assembly district, I’d recommend signing up to be assigned in the district. You can also help save the city by filling out the census in the final eight days.
